Most writings are usually filled with first draft typos and errors. One of the simplest ways to double check your work is to wait twenty four hours and then read it out loud. You will immediately recognize problems and can remedy them quickly!

Everyone knows the best way to get a job is through a well-connected network. Don’t be afraid to ask a stranger who has the job you want for their advice–they may be able to refer you along to the career of your dreams!

It can be tough to stay motivated during a prolonged job search. Top tip?  EXERCISE. It will help you feel better and relieve the anxiety!

When writing a paper, article, or even a cover letter, make sure you plan enough time into your schedule to give yourself a break of at least several hours after you believe you are finished. When you go back to review your writing, you’ll more easily notice errors.

Searching for a job has never been easier – or more complicated – than with the Internet. Often people search for jobs they had or are aware of within their current industry. Don’t limit yourself – there are new opportunities waiting for you if you know where to look!

If you know your supervisor or colleague will be leaving the company you work for, ask them for a letter of recommendation for your files.  You never know when you need that letter, and they may be difficult to find after they’ve moved to a new company!

When you participate in a phone interview, make sure you dress up in your full interview suit.  It will help you focus and put your mind in the interviewing zone. The company may not be able to see you, but your professionalism will come through loud and clear.

Worrying about finding the perfect job? Try to reframe your job search mentality by thinking “I’d like to find the perfect job for right now.” Say it out loud every day; you’ll stop fretting and start looking forward to seeing what jobs are out there for you!

The frustration of cover letter and resume writing can be erased if you spend five minutes out in the summer sunshine soaking in that Vitamin D. Your mood comes through in your writing, so take the time to stretch and rejuvenate–it will make a difference!
